Our Story

We redefine the way people see and interact with the world

Discover

The journey began in 2004 with Dr Jamieson Christmas’ PhD at Cambridge University, where his research focussed on making high quality holographic displays viable for the first time.  The research work laid the foundations for what later became a Dynamic Holography Platform.

In January 2010, following the completion of his PhD, Jamieson co-founded a deep technology start-up company Two Trees Photonics, to continue the research work. It quickly became clear that the holographic technology was a very good fit for automotive head-up displays (HUD), and this resulted in Two Trees Photonics securing an opportunity to develop the world’s first laser holographic HUD for Jaguar Land Rover.

The next 4 years saw the team at Two Trees Photonics mature the holographic technology to enable it to survive the rigours of the automotive environment and in February 2015 the first vehicles were delivered fitted with a Holographic Head Up Display. To date over 150,000 vehicles have been delivered carrying our technology.

In December 2015, having recognised the potential of the technology, Two Trees Photonics was acquired by the Californian-based Augmented Reality wearables company, DAQRI.

DAQRI continued to receive a significant number of enquiries about the holographic technology for the automotive sector and in November 2017 it was decided that the holographic & automotive engineering team should separate from DAQRI and become an independent entity. On the 1st January 2018 Envisics was formed and Jamieson appointed as CEO.

Envisics’ goal is to redefine the way people see and interact with their vehicles and the world around them by using our Dynamic Holography Platform. Holographic augmented reality (AR) HUDs overlay distraction free driving information upon the real world within the drivers field of view, this eliminates the need to for the driver to take their eyes off of the road, improving road safety and enhancing the ability to make more informed decisions.

Headquartered in Milton Keynes, UK with a second facility in Detroit, US, our team is made up of highly talented individuals, including world leading scientists and engineers.

We unveiled the result of our tireless work at CES

Everybody that saw it was absolutely blown away, hugely impressed. No-one had ever seen anything quite like it: compact HUD design; large image size; augmented reality; in a vehicle. All the things that traditionally have been very difficult to do, there they were in high quality.
